Emergence hit 10,000 downloads in its first 10 days on the Unreal Marketplace. We took a moment to celebrate (and then got right back at it!)
Get Involved! Your To-Do List
Community is everything! In this issue, we highlight a few things you can do to get involved:
Want to test the Mac version of Emergence for Unreal? Contact us on Discord
Attending GDC or SWSX? Contact alastair@crucible.network - we’d love to meet, grab a coffee, or invite you to a special event
Attend the GDC session with Aleissia Laidacker on “Rules of the Game” (see below for details)
Mark the last Thursday of every month for our Town Hall. In March, we’ll do a ‘State of the Union’ and look at trends in gaming and the Open Metaverse
Emergence: A Major Milestone
10,000 downloads in 10 days. And as of press time, we’re at 12,349 (to be exact).
The milestone was important for a few reasons.
It validated that there’s an interested group of game developers in #web3. There are still skeptics of course, but 10,000 downloads validates that there are developers who want to dive deeper.
It validated our value proposition, which is to make #web3 simple…without sacrificing the opportunity for deep innovation. By making Emergence easy-to-install and widely available, we saw the results.
It sets the stage for a wider discussion of what the Open Metaverse will look like. Until developers can start to play around, it’s all theory. With developers experimenting with #web3 via the Emergence SDK, we’ll start seeing innovative experiences.
Feature Requests, Fixes and Community
We didn’t have time to rest after the Unreal launch. Almost immediately, developers had questions and we were able to squash a few bugs quickly (often within hours).
By providing ‘live’ technical support via our Discord server, we were able to:
Help with installation questions
Brainstorming solutions to specific use cases
Address a few bugs that popped up
More importantly, developers gave us some immediate requests for future development:
We had numerous requests for Mac support. Emergence is generally structured to work on Macs already, but VRM support creates an issue and blocks installations. Based on community feedback, the team got to work on a Mac version which is currently undergoing internal testing.
Requests to integrate other chains. This was exciting! Our goal is to be chain-agnostic, and so the requests from the community validated that there’s a need for SDKs that provide a solution regardless of the chain you use.
Town Halls and Twitter Spaces
We’ve been ramping up our outreach, marketing and community engagement.
In February, our new Head of Community, Alastair Band held a Town Hall where he explored next steps for community including some plans for our Discord server, future events and developer outreach.
Make sure you mark your calendars for the last Thursday of the month and join our Discord for our Town Hall meetings. Our next Town Hall will focus on the ‘State of the Union’ and will summarize news from SXSW and the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC).
Meet The Team!
Members of the Emergence team will be attending both SWSX and GDC. Please do email Alastair (alastair@crucible.network), or hit him up on Discord, if you’re planning to attend - we’d love to meet!
And Aleissia Laidacker will be presenting at GDC - we hope you can attend:

Emergence & Web3 “Bootcamp”
Finally, you’ll notice on our new Emergence website that we are now offering a 3 hour ‘bootcamp’ for game developers or studios who want a quick immersion in web3, the Open Metaverse, and Emergence.
During three sessions, you will:
Learn about the Open Metaverse and web3 and how it can accelerate your business and game development
Get a deep dive into Emergence and the tools it offers
Have a virtual whiteboard session, exploring your own use cases and how you can create innovative experiences for players
Participate in a ‘live coding’ session where we demonstrate how to implement one or more of your ideas
To participate, please apply here.
Until next time…see you at our Town Hall, on our Discord server, or in the Metaverse!
