Building Momentum. Is World Building Poised for Take-Off?
Emergence gains new ground. And it might signal a broader industry shift.
When we launched Emergence on Unreal, we targeted 1% of developers. Now, over 3% of active Unreal developers have downloaded Emergence.
And lately, we’ve started to learn what they’re building, from card games to ‘shooters’:
OK, and one NSFW comment!
(Check out one sneak peek here, showing Emergence in action).
Emergence makes it easy for game developers to create innovative experiences, whether by allowing for simple on-chain transactions or porting avatars from a player’s wallet into a game world.
What’s clear from some of the comments and feedback we’ve received:
Emergence can save 2-6 months and $20,000-$50,000 in development time for a single developer or small team
Larger teams and studios benefit from the years invested in building Emergence, and can save up to 20% in time and investment, allowing them to focus on their expertise in making great games
We remove 95% of the headaches involved in writing/reading smart contracts
Emergence is creating a clear and easy path to interoperability
It’s rewarding when developers share with us their works-in-progress using Emergence. Through our 24/7 support in Discord, it helps us get a deep understanding of how much developers are using Emergence and how we can improve it.
Emergence Updates
A new version of the Unreal plug-in was launched, including a mega list of updates
This release included support for Unreal users on Mac
The team launched a bridge for Wallet Connect which deprecated an older version - and leaving many developers scrambling. Helping the wider community by launching a bridge between users was a ‘lift’ technically, but resulted in hundreds of wallet sessions.
Work continues on Emergence for Unity. Stay tuned for announcements!
Town Halls continue to provide a forum for community engagement. Recent Town Hall topics covered incentives in DAOs and #web3 communities, and an industry deep dive with Lamina1.
The team has continued to hold well-attended Emergence workshops, giving developers a chance to learn how to use the tools during live sessions. Stay tuned on Twitter for the next one!
Open Meta Launches Bounty Program
The community now has the opportunity to earn points by completing bounties. Launched during a recent Twitter Space, the program is focused on recognizing that the Open Metaverse is an all-hands effort.
Commenting on our new bounty program:
By providing bounties, Open Meta is providing incentives to developers to share their work using Emergence and to content creators for helping to evangelize and educate.
The program has just started, and feedback is being actively solicited within the Open Meta Discord, with plans for several bounty ‘quest lines’ in the works.
